Hello my name is

Christopher Martinez

I will be a 7th grade teacher this year.  I am very excited to be working at Resaca Middle School this year and looking to a wonderful year.  This will be my 6th year teaching middle school science and I hope to pass on the love and understanding of science to all my students.  I was born in Brownsville, Texas and at the age of five moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin where I lived until the age of 19.  After graduating high school I joined the United States Marine Corps in January 2002, I deployed to Kuwait and Iraq where I served a total of 15 months in the middle east.  After four years in the Marine Corps, I moved back to Brownsville and started going to college at the University of Texas at Brownsville where I received an associate in teaching, associates in liberal arts, Bachelor of Science Education and I am currently taking masters courses in administration.  I taught one year in Los Fresnos in 6th-grade science and two years in Corpus Christi in 8th-grade science.  My certifications are in 4-8th science, 4-8th generalist and K-6th generalist.  My goal for students is to have them reach their highest potential and think independently/critically as well has them gaining an understanding of science that will prepare them for high school and beyond.

My hobbies include; Spending time with Family, Fishing, Biking, Kayaking, Hunting, Swimming, Chess, Gardening, Bird-watching, as well as anything outdoors.  I will be sponsoring Chess, One act play, Maps charts and graphs and Gardening clubs after school this year.
